Raiders Make QB Decision For Chiefs Game After Gardner Minshew Injury

The Las Vegas Raiders are having a terrible season. Most experts expected that they would not be a good squad this season, yet the team has recently performed poorly. The latest setback to their season came last Thursday, when starting quarterback Gardner Minshew suffered a season-ending collarbone injury. The Raiders are now turning to the quarterback who played the majority of last season for the team. According to Tom Pelissero, Las Vegas is preparing for their game against the Kansas City Chiefs with Aidan O’Connell as their starting quarterback.

O’Connell began the season as the Raiders’ second quarterback, but lost to Minshew. However, because to Minshew’s injuries this season, O’Connell has received some burn. He has appeared in four games, including two starts. He’s completed 63.4% of his passes for 455 yards, two touchdowns, and two interceptions. Last season, O’Connell started ten games for the Raiders, replacing Jimmy Garoppolo. The former Purdue product passed for 2,218 yards and a 62.1% completion rate, with 12 touchdowns and seven interceptions. O’Connell was a serviceable starter last season, but the situation is significantly different this season.

The Raiders are 2-9 this season after a loss to the Denver Broncos. The playoffs appear increasingly like a pipe fantasy.
