Newcastle United joined in ‘race’ for Sheffield United academy graduate by giants as Everton seek agreement

Newcastle United have reportedly been joined by AC Milan in the race to sign Sheffield United academy graduate Dominic Calvert-Lewin from Everton.

The 27-year-old was extensively linked with a transfer away from Everton in the summer, with Newcastle and Manchester United reportedly interested.

Reports of interest from the Magpies have persisted, with some suggesting he could be recruited to lessen the blow of Alexander Isak’s departure.
According to TEAMtalk, Serie A heavyweights AC Milan are also interested in signing Calvert-Lewin for the first time outside of England.
They are not the only foreign club to have expressed interest in the forward, who has previously been connected with Turkish club Besiktas.

While Milan is thought to be interested, Everton is said to be doing everything possible to lock down Calvert-Lewin to a new contract.

His current contract expires at the end of the season, thus he might leave Liverpool on a free transfer.
He first joined Everton in 2016, for a reported £1.5 million, having impressing as a teenager at Sheffield United.

The 27-year-old has subsequently made 259 appearances for the club, scoring 70 goals and providing 19 assists.
