BBC sports Celtic handed major boost as Rangers news confirmed.
Given how things are going for the Rangers right now, most of their fans will be praying that the speculations tying Philippe Clement to the Belgian national team position are genuine. With Aberdeen losing this weekend, the Ibrox team was given a fantastic opportunity to make up ground. But all they could achieve was a draw with Dundee United. Celtic’s 4-1 triumph away at Tynecastle Park put them 11 points clear of their Glasgow rivals.
We’ve seen Giovanni van Bronckhorst and Mick Beale fired when the Rangers were in better situations. But, after handing Clement a long-term contract extension just a few months ago, showing him the exit door may not be the easiest task for them right now.
Despite this, reports circulated on social media earlier that Clement was on his way out of Ibrox following the stalemate with Dundee United. However, this has not proven to be accurate. Jim White said that there were no changes at Rangers. There was no board meeting, and Clement will continue in his capacity.
Celtic get a significant boost once Rangers news is confirmed.
It is safe to assume that many Celtic fans will view this positively. The Rangers do not appear to be moving forward under Clement’s supervision, and his departure appears likely.
However, it appears that the club is not ready to make that decision yet. That will allow Celtic to not only widen the distance between the two teams, but also enter Hampden Park with an advantage when they play in the Scottish League Cup final three weeks later. Of course, Celtic can’t take anything for granted. Games and prizes must be won on the pitch, and the season is far from over.
