At Portman Road on Sunday, the Sky Sports commentator was seen on camera arguing with a fan.
Keane left the broadcast desk to go to the stand after the Tractor Boys and Manchester United drew 1-1.
He is believed to have reacted to the insults by urging the supporter to continue their debate in the parking lot after
he was spotted pacing back and forth with a home fan.
According to the Daily Mail, Keane’s time as Ipswich’s manager from 2009 to 2011 is what led to the altercation.
According to a witness, the fan was upset with the Irishman for being nasty when he approached and for not signing
autographs for his kids.
The witness told the Daily Mail: “The argument all stemmed from an issue with his children.
“The fan’s issue was about getting autographs back in the day when he was the manager here. The guy was basically
saying Roy Keane ruled with fear.
“You could see him pointing to the car park because that is where the autographs were done, and that’s where he had
the issue with Roy all those years ago. So, it makes sense they were pointing over there.”
“He might have wanted to talk in the car park as that’s where it all happened. It’s hard to tell. But yeah, he could have
meant ‘I’ll talk to you in the car park,’ but it came across as if he was inviting him out [for a fight].”
After serving as manager at Sunderland, the former footballer took Jim Magilton’s place at Portman Road in April
2009.
