Juventus vs. Aston Villa: Top player “tries to return” from injury for the CL match, to face a “decisive” test
Concerns have been raised over Dušan Vlahović’s participation in Aston Villa’s Champions League match against Juventus on Wednesday at Villa Park.
The Serbia international sustained an injury when playing against Denmark last week and missed the Serie A team’s goalless stalemate against AC Milan over the weekend.
Corriere Torino claimed on Wednesday that the 24-year-old received a’very nasty blow’ and will most likely miss the match against Aston Villa.
Calciomercato reports that the striker is ‘trying to return’ to face Unai Emery’s side.
The former Fiorentina player has a muscle problem in his left thigh and trained alone on Sunday. According to the source, he will face tests on Monday that will be ‘decisive’ in determining if he can train with the rest of the group.
At the present, his recovery is progressing as planned, and provided no additional setbacks occur, he might start against the Villans. If Vlahović cannot go to Villa Park, Juve boss Thiago Motta may start Timothy Weah in attack.
Calciomercato adds that “no further recoveries are expected” for Douglas Luiz and Nicolás González, while Arkadiusz Milik remains a long-term absentee.
