La Liga giants Athletic Club send classy message to Celtic winger James Forrest

James Forrest is already a Celtic legend; the question now is how far up the tree he will go. The 33-year-old, who began his career in 2009, has been on Celtic’s books since 2002 and has spent nearly three decades with Scotland’s biggest club.

That is now guaranteed, as Forrest signed a new contract this week that would keep him at Parkhead until at least 2026.

Bobby Lennox is Celtic’s most decorated player of all time, but it won’t be long before Forrest not only matches but breaks that record.

The Scotland international has 24 trophies; if Celtic beat Rangers in the League Cup final next month, he would match Lennox’s record, and he can then smash it by winning his 13th Premiership title – and more.

Within the four walls of the green and white, Forrest is unquestionably adored and respected for his contributions on the field. He did, however, receive a beautiful greeting from La Liga side Athletic Club after signing a new contract.

Athletic Club hail James Forrest as ‘one-club Man in the making’ for Celtic

Forrest’s testimonial took place last summer at Parkhead, where Celtic defeated Athletic Club 3-2.

The Spanish giants did more than just show up for a game; they educated and immersed themselves in Celtic’s history and why they are Scotland’s finest team.

However, they have maintained their strong friendship by commenting on Twitter to the news of Forrest’s new contract.

The English version of Athletic Club’s official social media account shared an image of Forrest heading out for his testimonial last year, describing him as a ‘one-club man in the making’.

Forrest’s stats for Celtic

Forrest is currently a member of Celtic’s squad, and even if he were at his peak, it would be difficult for him to break into Rodgers’ starting lineup.

Daizen Maeda is a terror to play against, while Nicolas Kuhn is Scotland’s finest player right now and threatens to surpass Forrest’s records from past years.

In any case, the player has over 100 goals and assists in his boyhood club’s colours, according to Transfermarkt, with plenty more to come in the coming years.
