He’ll probably transfer’: Rangers boost as agent talks up £4m deal, rules out Saudi switch for 10-goal star.
Rangers are still in the running for this £4 million midfield player, even though Saudi Arabia and Russia are no longer options.
That is, at least, the recommendation made by a very knowledgeable agent on Darius Olaru’s future.
This month, Rangers were linked to Romanian star Olaru—not for the first time, and most likely not the last. A £4 million release clause undoubtedly makes the FCSB talisman considerably more attainable than other playmakers of comparable caliber, even though insiders have told RangersNews that there haven’t been many advancements as of yet.
After all, £4 million seems like a great deal for a player who helped FCSB win their first league title since 2015 with 21 goals and assists from midfield last season. For good reason, Olaru has been compared to Kevin de Bruyne of Manchester City.
And there is definitely space in the Ibrox inn for a technical, two-footed attacking midfielder who can both create and put away opportunities from the number 10 position, especially with Tom Lawrence’s injury problems rearing their ugly head once more.
Agent thinks Rangers linked Darius Olaru should leave in 2025
One of the most influential people in Romanian football, Ioan Becali, acknowledges that Olaru isn’t exactly the kind to submit a transfer request and leave at the first sign of an offer.
However, as Olaru’s 27th birthday draws near, the agency is aware that this could be his final opportunity to establish himself abroad.
“Olaru doesn’t consider transfers when he plays. “Olaru said, ‘I feel good here,’ when I told him about [a possible] transfer,” Becali tells Sport RO. He’s not a player who is in a hurry to quit.
However, he is likely to transfer when a team from a country he wants to visit pays the club the five million euros it seeks. However, it must be during the summer. It gets harder if he gets to be 27 or 28 years old.
“But in any case, unlike other players, he is not in a desperate situation to quit.”
Becali is adamant that Olaru won’t quit the team that was once known as Steaua Bucharest in order to make a lucrative move to Saudi Arabia or Russia.
He cites Florin Tanase as an example. Following a disastrous stint in the Middle East with Al-Jazira and Al-Okhdood, the FCSB striker finally made it back to Romania.
“Look at the issues [you could have] in Arabia.” Becali notes, “Tanase left, didn’t play, and returned.”
When it comes to salary payment and compliance, the best four or five teams in Saudi Arabia are on par with those in Europe. The others [bring] CAS [involvement] and litigation. For that reason, I believe that playing here is preferable to waiting.
