during Chris Wilder’s actions during the previous game, there is increased tension building ahead of the Steel City derby in March of next year.

Sheffield Wednesday travelled to Sheffield United for the first Steel City derby in five years before to the November international break.

For Danny Rohl, it was a first, but not for Chris Wilder. For the Blades’ team, it was a first, but not for players like Dominic Iorfa, Liam Palmer, and Barry Bannan.

The first half of the match was close. After the restart, Sheffield Wednesday appeared to have a chance to finish the game with a point, but they lost focus.

In the end, Sheffield United defeated Sheffield Wednesday 1-0. However, the primary topic of conversation ever since has been what transpired following the game.

Wilder was filmed in a pub chanting’sausage roll’ to the tune of Sheffield Wednesday fans’ song ‘Danny, Danny Rohl’, to which the Owls boss has since responded.

Chris Wilder hits back after Danny Rohl breaks silence at Sheffield Wednesday

Rohl offered his opinion on Wilder’s shouting following the Steel City derby on Thursday, ahead of Saturday’s Championship matchup against Cardiff City.

According to Rohl, it might not be the worst thing if the opponent had a song about him.

Perhaps they understand that they are highly respected, based on my interpretation. Although I wouldn’t do that, the opposing stadium is free to think anything they want if they sing about me rather than their own team.

Additionally, Wilder shared his thoughts on the subject prior to his team’s Championship match against Coventry City on Saturday lunchtime.

Wilder told The Star: “Do supporters want to see that, or do they want to see them just slope off and get in their cars and go back to their houses 200 miles away? No.

“They want to mix, they want to be part of it. When you win a game of football, you have to do a hell of a lot of things right. So you have to enjoy it and enjoy it together, as they have done.

“I’m not going to knock that and go back to the groups that have been successful; they all stay together. I like the look of it, and I’m all over it.”

He added: “It [the game] becomes sterile, doesn’t it?. It becomes emotionless and you can’t get away from it. I certainly can’t.

“I’m not trying to gain favour or anything but my situation is quite unique one. I’m 100 percent emotionally tied in. How can I not be with the journey I’ve been on?”

What date is the next Steel City derby match?

As of right now, Sheffield United will visit Hillsborough on Saturday, Match 15th, when Sheffield Wednesday will kick off at 3 p.m.

However, as Sky Sports will undoubtedly broadcast the game live, that date appears to be vulnerable to change.

With Steve Bruce as manager at the time, the last Steel City derby at Hillsborough was a 0-0 draw during the 2018-19 Championship season. This is the first one since 2019.

With a transfer window between now and March 15, things might be drastically different by the time the two teams play again. At the moment, Sheffield United is in second place in the Championship table, while the Owls are in 15th.

Sheffield Wednesday go up against Cardiff City in a 12:30pm kickoff on Saturday.
