Chris Davies acknowledged that his tactical change has contributed to Alfie May’s difficulties in front of goal and
pledged to give the striker more chances up front.the four goals in his first four League One games in August, May’s Birmingham City career got off to a great start.
However, in his remaining nine league games, the 31-year-old has only scored once. The entrance of record-breaking
Jay Stansfield, who has assumed the role of center-forward for the Blues, has coincided with the number nine’s poor
goal-scoring performance.
May has had to drop deeper when the two have played together, even though Stansfield has occasionally played in
the number 10 spot to make room for target player Lyndon Dykes.
