BBC Sports Todd Cantwell fuels Rangers transfer return talk as he delivers gushing message.
The playmaker left Govan in the summer, but he reacted to a fan via social media.
Todd Cantwell has fuelled thoughts of a Rangers comeback by reacting to a fan’s social media highlight video of his time at Ibrox. The 26-year-old just departed the Light Blues in the summer after only 18 months in Govan, as the playmaker did not get along with hardline manager Philippe Clement. Cantwell joined Blackburn Rovers and has made 11 appearances this season under Ewood Park manager and former Rangers trialist John Eustace.
But the Englishman, signed by Michael Beale, certainly has happy memories of Rangers, despite how the season ended, and re-shared a video montage with a message. He wrote, “Such a special club, we had some fun.” You have a huge portion of my heart. Perhaps one day again.” Clement said in July, following a pre-season friendly against Birmingham City, that Cantwell had requested a transfer. And Cantwell stated, “It was his decision to tell the press, which was my decision. We had talked internally for a while before the season ended.
“In the end, we were unable to strike a balance that satisfied both. The one thing I want to make clear is that I never claimed I didn’t want to play for the Rangers. That never came out of my mouth, and never will.”
