Sheffield United are well-placed to cement their Championship promotion credentials over Christmas.
Danny Mills believes Chris Wilder has the ability and expertise to keep Sheffield United in the promotion chase despite a ‘tricky’ winter schedule.
United secured their place in the top two for the November international break with a 1-0 Steel City derby victory over Sheffield Wednesday, lifting them back above Leeds United. The Blades are now equal on points with Sunderland, who lead the standings, and would be clear at the top if not for a two-point deduction over the summer. The Championship table is beginning to take shape as the season approaches its first truly decisive time, with the festive fixture pile-up allowing in-form sides to pick up points while others struggle. However, it is also one of the season’s most arduous stages, with circumstances deteriorating, injuries occurring, and exhaustion setting in.
Performances take a back seat as outcomes become more important, with serious promotion candidates always looking for ways to win. And Mills expects United to accomplish just that, with the seasoned Wilder having seen it all before.
