Norwich City should start engines for January departure

The 20-year-old made an impression when on loan at Accrington Stanley the previous season, and he has committed

to Norwich’s future by signing a contract that will keep him at Carrow Road until 2027.

However, he has only played 90 minutes this season, so a January loan move in League One would be the ideal

chance for him to advance even more.

Since many other Championship clubs would be ready to temporarily offload some of their stars come January,

Sporting Director Ben Knapper would probably be eager to finalize a trade as soon as possible.

In order to avoid the kind of situation that exists with fellow Norwich City loanee Ken Aboh, who has only made two

appearances for Stevenage since signing in the summer, any possible loan agreement must guarantee that Hills is a

regular fixture at the back for any team he plays for.

Brad Hills loan would make sense for all parties

As a Canaries supporter who was born in Norwich, Hills appears to be someone who may fulfill the ambition of

having one of their own pull on the shirt.

Establishing a clear development route is crucial for young players like the defender, particularly in light of the

“youth pipeline” concept that Mark Attanasio appears to be implementing after taking over.

After a strong preseason campaign, Johannes Hoff Thorup obviously thinks highly of the defender, but the Dane also

wants his back line to be consistent, with Shane Duffy and Jose Cordoba developing into a regular duo this season.

Shane Duffy Norwich City

Some City supporters are curious about Hills’ future because he has been absent from the matchday team lately due

to a minor back ailment.

Given the Premier League aspirations and the presence of Duffy and Grant Hanley on the senior team, Thorup will

undoubtedly want Hills to be ready when the time comes. Therefore, making sure Hills gets a high-quality loan must

be a top priority, and there’s seldom a better moment to start discussing what would be best for everyone.

Additionally, he would appear to match the Norwich City manager’s preferred style of play. He is the ball-playing

center-back who is essential to Accrington’s high-possession, build-out from the back style of play. He has generated

11 opportunities and even scored three goals for the squad.

Brad Hills may have been kept on the first team for the first half of the season by Knapper and Thorup to make sure

there would be no teething problems when he finally made the move.

However, it currently appears like gaining more playing time and furthering his growth while on loan would be more

advantageous and increase his chances of beginning the next season.

.

With teams reportedly interested in bringing the youngster in on loan in the summer, you’d imagine he would not be

short of suitors.

Brad Hills would be ideal for League One

Hills, who won Accrington’s fan’s player of the season award while on loan, has already established himself in the

football league.

At this point, a loan move cannot be regarded as a step-down. Although there is a lot of potential in League One, it

would make sense for him to advance even more. Since he has demonstrated his value in League Two, League One

would be the perfect place for him to test himself.

Given his lack of playing time this season, it’s not to say that he would be expected to contribute right away, but

consistent first-team minutes are crucial for a young player’s development and would give him a more mature and

streetwise edge.

League One clubs will be considering other names besides Hills’. In order to get the most out of their center-back for

the rest of the season, Norwich should start making some calls now if they want to guarantee him playing time.

Given Abu Kamara’s transfer request after returning to Norwich from Portsmouth, it makes sense that some people

would be concerned about sending such a valuable possession out of Norfolk; however, Brad Hills is aware that every

game he plays elsewhere is him “climbing the ladder” to join the Norwich City team.

Priority should be given to the development of Hills, which appears to be better served by moving away from Carrow

Road.
