Former Celtic left-back Kieran Tierney has resumed full Arsenal first-team training ahead of the January transfer window.
The Scotland international has been out since suffering a devastating hamstring injury in Scotland’s Euro 2024 match against Switzerland in June.
Since then, there has been extensive talk that the 27-year-old could return to Celtic and reunite with Brendan Rodgers.
Tierney notified Arsenal of his desire to return to his boyhood club in January, according to Graeme Bailey of TBR Football last month. It follows a story in The Sunday Post that the Gunners were asking £10 million for the defender.
During the previous international break, Tierney was spotted socializing with Rodgers at a Celtic event in London, sparking speculation about a future return to Parkhead.
The Hoops academy graduate has since resumed full training with Arsenal. Tierney was recently spotted on the pitch wearing long sleeves and tracksuit bottoms, which is unexpected.
The Scot, like Scott Brown, was known for wearing shorts and a T-shirt regardless of the weather when playing for Celtic and even Arsenal. Tierney may have mellowed as he has matured.
It remains to be seen whether the full-back’s long-held desire to rejoin the Bhoys would ever be realized. One thing is certain: conjecture and rumours will continue until he finds a new club.
