Although it hasn’t been as common in recent years, Celtic has no problem acquiring players from Manchester City. The arrival of Jeremie Frimpong was the most important. The Dutchman was just another child back then, but we all know how things have changed for him since. He was a standout player at Parkhead, Bayer Leverkusen, and now appears to be close to joining one of Europe’s top teams. It is not impossible to return to the Citizens.

In recent years, Manchester City has produced some amazing talents. Though he has continued to compete for and win the biggest titles in the game, Pep Guardiola has found it challenging to give them chances.

Many have therefore had to leave Manchester City in order to demonstrate their superiority. Take a look at Cole Palmer’s explosive growth in the last 12 months.

It appears that clubs all across Europe are taking notice of another Manchester City number ten. Celtic appears to be one of them.

Celtic is one of the teams keeping an eye on things and has a more than casual interest in James McAtee, according to CaughtOffside. Given the player’s demand for consistent playing time and the club’s own requirement to adhere to Financial Fair Play regulations, Manchester City is open to transfers.

The fact that so many other teams are vying for McAtee’s services is bad news for Celtic. His transfer fee might increase as a result, and the Hoops might soon lose their chance.

The recent success of players like Matt O’Riley and Nicolas Kuhn, along with the opportunity to play Champions League football, should make Celtic a desirable destination for McAtee. If not, the Hoops may have trouble closing a deal.
