Since midfielder Jakub Moder’s contract is coming to an end, Brighton will need to make a significant transfer choice in January.
Moder, 25, has made 68 appearances with two goals and four assists since joining Brighton from Lech Poznan in
2020 for almost £8 million.
Under former manager Graham Potter, the Poland international was a regular. However, he missed nearly two
seasons due to a severe ACL injury he suffered against Norwich in April 2022.
Moder has made two late replacement appearances in the Premier League against Manchester City and Liverpool
this season, in addition to starting two Carabao Cup games for Fabian Hurzeler against Wolves and Liverpool.
However, his lack of playing time is an issue for a player who is trying desperately to resume his career after suffering
an injury. Last summer, Moder was on the verge of joining Leicester as part of a deal that was supposed to bring
Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall to Brighton, but it fell through when Dewsbury-Hall decided to join Chelsea instead.
Brighton’s only chance to get a price for Moder is during the January transfer window; else, they risk losing him for
free this summer. Champions League team Stuttgart is reportedly interested in moving the midfield player to the
Bundesliga, according to Sport Witness and Meczyki.pl. Steve Cooper’s Leicester may potentially pique their interest.
