Celtic were trying to hire a new custodian during the summer transfer window and considered many candidates.

In the end, the Bhoys recruited experienced custodian Kasper Schmeichel for a one-year contract to replace Joe Hart. The Danish custodian has performed admirably for the club, but Celtic will need to replace him at some point.

When it comes to signing a custodian, Celtic look to have taken an unusual approach. Instead of investing extensively in a rookie keeper, they are recruiting experienced goalkeepers with extensive Premier League experience on a low-cost basis.

Goalkeepers typically have a lengthy playing career, and while they lose some reflexes, they are still excellent enough to play at the top level in their late years.

The door is open for Celtic to recruit Newcastle United custodian Martin Dubravka.

In light of this, should Celtic make a summer transfer window or January bid for Martin Dubravka, the custodian for Newcastle United? He will be a free agent at the conclusion of the season because Newcastle is not willing to renew his contract, according to a Sunday Mirror report.

The Slovakian custodian was targeted by Celtic during the summer transfer window, and the Bhoys have a chance to get him at Parkhead for nothing next summer or for a pittance in January.

Champions League football could entice Dubravka

There is interest from Saudi Pro League clubs, and if money is the only consideration, Celtic have little chance of competing with the mega-rich clubs. Dubravka is an extremely experienced custodian.

He has made 152 Premier League matches for the Magpies and 50 caps for his country.

Celtic can entice him with the possibility of regular Champions League action, which Dubravka may find too attractive to turn down right now.

The Slovakian custodian has a few years left in him, and Celtic should aim to sign him on a cheap deal.
