Southampton’s Sugawara scores on return to action with Japan

Yukinari Sugawara, a defender for SAINTS, scored in Friday’s 4-0 victory over Indonesia after coming off the bench.

Sugawara, 24, helped the Blue Samurai increase their advantage at the top of Group C by scoring his second goal in four World Cup qualifying matches.

Sugawara drove towards goal and then hammered home and the near post with minimal pressure from the Indonesian defense.

After Wolves youngster Justin Hubner scored an own goal, Takumi Minamino, a former Saints loanee, and Hidemasa Morita of Sporting also scored goals.
