Honduran media react to Celtic winger Luis Palma who was ‘like a hunter’ vs Mexico

With the international break in full swing now, Celtic fans can now read some positivity about Luis Palma after his substitute appearance for Honduras vs Mexico.

Palma has failed to enter into the Celtic team this season, making only seven appearances under Brenda Rodgers.
The Celtic winger has spoken up about his lack of playing time at Parkhead, as well as how a family death has had a profound impact on him.

However, as one of 13 Celtic players now on international assignment, Palma had the opportunity to demonstrate Rodgers what he could provide, and he did not disappoint.

Palma was on fire in the first leg of the CONCACAF Nations League quarterfinals against Mexico, scoring twice in a 2-0 victory that sent the Honduran media into a frenzy.

Coming off the bench, Palma scored with his first touch in the 63rd minute and secured the game in the 82nd minute with a perfectly placed effort, giving the Hondurans a two-goal lead heading into the return leg in Mexico.

And the Honduran media ate it up.

Diez: “A minute after entering the field, he broke the game and scored the opening goal of the night at Morazán Stadium, causing the Catrachos to erupt in excitement.

“But the most beautiful thing came in the 83rd minute when the Honduran bug took the scoreboard and lit up the ‘sampedrano colossus’ again with a great goal.”

El Heraldo: “Bicho Palma was alert like a hunter, crossing the shot and opening the can at the Morazán stadium with the 1-0 to unleash the chaos of the game.

“The second goal by the “Bicho” came in the 83rd minute, when he took a shot from outside the area impossible for “Memo” Ochoa to cover.”

La Prensa: “The Bicho did not start as a starter, but in the second half he made his entrance and what a way to do it: giving joy to the fans at the Morazan Stadium.”

The second half began with tremendous pressure from the Catracho side, which scored their first goal in the 64th minute through Luis Palma, who plays for Celtic in Scotland.
“The Catracho team continued to attack and after a brilliant piece of play by Luis Palma, they scored the second goal for the bicolor in the 83rd minute.”

Palma has not scored an international goal since the Celtic winger scored for Honduras in a 4-0 victory over Grenada in September 2023.

Despite his little playing time in Paradise, the 24-year-old came off the bench and scored twice, surprising Celtic fans. The Celtics attacker has now given his side a strong chance of reaching the semi-finals provided Honduras can hold firm in Mexico on Wednesday.
