New Everton stadium ‘under serious consideration’ to host Ashes Test

Next year’s rugby league match between England and Australia may be played at Everton’s brand-new stadium, which is still under construction.

Next autumn, Australia’s world champion team will make its first tour in over 20 years, stopping in the UK. They won the postponed Rugby League World Cup in 2022 the last time they visited England.

They will now play a three-test series against England, who advanced to the semi-finals at home. There will be two games in the north, one on each side of the Pennines, and one in London. Even though Everton has a history with stadiums like Old Trafford, their spectacular facility on the River Mersey at Bramley-Moore Dock is on the shortlist. It has not yet been opened.

The Toffees are scheduled to move into their new home, which will take the place of Goodison Park, at the end of the year. According to the Daily Mail, officials are aiming to profit from the first Ashes Tour in over 20 years.

There is hope that hosting an Ashes test in the city will draw spectators to the 52,888-seat stadium in Merseyside.Although it is seen as unlikely, Manchester City’s Etihad Stadium has also been discussed. Locations in Wigan and Bolton

Leeds and Hull appear to be at odds in Yorkshire. Both locations would draw sizable crowds and have a history of rugby league.

Wembley is one of several venues in the capital that are being considered. The London location has a lengthy history in the sport and hosts the Challenge Cup every year. Although it is regarded as an expensive venue, Tottenham’s state-of-the-art stadium is an alternative.
