As he looks for a third straight victory and pursues his long-term goal of making the bet365 Stadium a hostile place for any opposition, Narcis Pelach has sent a direct message to Stoke City fans.
Pelach acknowledges that the match against Millwall (Saturday, 12.30pm), who have won four straight games to go up to fifth place in the Championship, will probably be the most difficult of his tenure as head coach. However, he is becoming more confident as a result of the team’s wins over Derby County and Blackburn Rovers and their relationship with the supporters.
He wants to keep the building buzzing from the first whistle to the end and beyond, giving fans what they want so that they can give him what the team needs. The team has lined up in front of its supporters to unite in a celebration akin to that of Jurgen Klopp.
“Obviously, winning a game gives you more confidence, but it’s not about how you start, it’s about how you finish,” he stated during his pre-game press conference. Naturally, I would like to start with a goal, but we must play well from the beginning, finish well, and be dependable for the entire ninety minutes. I believe that our supporters can make a difference at home, which is why we must do everything in our power to ensure that all of the supporters stand by us, proud, and support Millwall through challenging times because they are a positive influence and we need their assistance.
“The supporters are really crucial, in my opinion. I’ve never asked, so I’m not sure if they realize how significant they are, but I do know how much the players loved celebrating with them after the Derby game, how much they loved that victory over Blackburn, and how much they loved it at the conclusion of the game. The dressing room, I believe, simply wants more of this.
