Ao Tanaka, a Leeds United midfielder, has been called up to Japan’s squad ahead of the November international break.
Tanaka has been a standout player for Leeds this season, and his efforts earned him another call-up to represent his country, adding to his 29 international caps.

Tanaka has appeared in 11 league games with the Whites, starting seven of them, and has impressed in each one.
Tanaka has been Leeds’ finest midfielder in the absence of injured Ethan Ampadu, who is expected to return to action ahead of schedule. He has also helped the Whites narrow the distance on league leaders Sunderland.
He delivered an outstanding performance, particularly against Plymouth. According to FotMob, the player had a stunning 91% pass accuracy out of 116 attempts.
That wasn’t the only Championship match in which he impressed this season, and it won’t be the last. Tanaka will play a vital role for Leeds United this season, and fingers will be crossed at Elland Road that he can return injury-free.
