Lazio, Baroni: “Ho dormito a Formello per due mesi, questa squadra mi motiva”
Lazio secured their fourth consecutive victory in the Europa League, defeating Porto 2-1 at home. The win puts the Biancocelesti at the top of their group with a perfect 12 points, while Porto remain at 4 points. Following the match, Lazio manager Marco Baroni shared his thoughts in a post-game press conference.
Baroni began by praising his team’s performance: “I must once again congratulate the squad.
At the start of the season, you have a calendar, and the matches gradually come one by one.
What matters most is how you approach each game, and today I asked for a match played with conviction and joy. We played against a great opponent.
Truly, congratulations to the boys and also to the fans for the beautiful atmosphere at the end.”
The manager then discussed the team’s mentality: “Our greatest quality is always believing. We must play to win matches. I know very well that difficult moments will come. But if you’ve created a strong mentality, you’ll get through those moments too. I will rarely put in a defender to secure a result because that wouldn’t be consistent with the approach we work on in every training session.”
Regarding the goal conceded, Baroni expressed his frustration: “I got angry. We needed more attention. After that, Rovella gave us order, and we picked ourselves up. It’s a shame about the goal.”
Baroni concluded by speaking about his deep connection to Lazio, often referred to as “lazialità”: “I’m in it with both feet. I’ve had the most beautiful chance of my life. I slept at Formello for two months. I often stay there even now that I’ve found a house. When I say this team keeps me up at night, I mean it motivates me.”
