Leading outlet Bild openly felt the strain of the winger’s brilliance as they let emotions take over
Unstoppable Nicolas Kuhn crushed RB Leipzig 3-1 in the Champions League, only to face harsh criticism in his own country.
Bild, a leading newspaper, publicly felt the strain of the winger’s talent, branding him a “German no-name”. It’s a harsh portrayal of a player who appears anything but. In reaction, those in his nation have overwhelmingly expressed disgust. Those in the know believe that opinion will not be shared by Julian Nagelsmann, the Germany manager who is said to be a huge fan of the Celtic star.
Kuhn, as the rest of the world knows, was irrepressible, scoring twice to turn around Leipzig’s start. Reo Hatate then joined in the celebration as Celtic increased their lead to seven points and bolstered their bid to make the playoffs of the new Champions League. Record Sport examines the top reactions from around the globe.

“In Glasgow, Leipzig was humiliated by a German no-name professional who, of all persons, had trained in RB’s youth team. Nicolas Kuhn (24 games between 2015 and 2018) sealed the victory with a brace. From the right side, the left-footer advances into the middle, shakes off RB defender El Chadaille Bitshiabu, and flicks the ball into the far corner from 18 meters – the equaliser. Then Kuhn (four caps for the German U20s) puts up the heat and earns man of the match. He sends a low cross into the goal seconds before halftime.

“In 2018, Nicolas-Gerrit Künh had to leave the Red Bull Arena without getting the opportunity to make his first-team debut. During these six years, in which he roamed across half of Europe before arriving in Glasgow, he has been plotting revenge, culminating in a double that spurred Celtic’s comeback (3-1) and left Marco Rose’s side on the ropes.”

“RB Leipzig has forgotten how to play Champions League – and Nicolas Kuhn, of all people, is the spoiler. You could not write it. Nicolas Kuhn, a former RB Leipzig player, might become a bogeyman for the Saxons in Celtic Glasgow’s Champions League match.
And, yeah, that is exactly what occurred during the first half. In the 35th minute, the Rasenballer youth player hit the ball precisely just outside the penalty area with a superb individual move, resulting in the ball flying unstoppably against the left post and into the net. Kuhn was in the correct place again after a left-sided cross through the entire penalty area, and he even made it 2-1 from close range. Incredible.”
Sport 1 (Germany)
“Of all people, a former RB player caused Leipzig significant damage in the Champions League. Nicolas Kuhn scored twice in the first half of the match against Celtic Glasgow. They ultimately fell 3-1. The 24-year-old Kuhn scored in the 35th and 45th minutes, with his first goal particularly stunning. With his powerful left foot, Kühn flicked the ball unstoppably onto the left inside post.”

“Nicolas Kühn, a former Leipzig youth player, came out of nowhere to level the scores. The German winger cut inside and curled home a stunning equaliser. And Kühn wasn’t finished yet, as he added a second to send Celtic into the break 2-1 ahead. Greg Taylor cut the ball across the face of the box, evading Daizen Maeda and finding Kühn, who was at home. After the break, Leipzig’s fortunes deteriorated further as Celtic scored 3-1 in the 72nd minute through Reo Hatate. Just after Christoph Baumgartner squandered a wonderful opportunity to add a second for the visitors, Leipzig custodian Peter Gulacsi spilt a low cross into the path of Hatate, who converted
