Sheffield Wednesday receive Dominic Iorfa boost ahead of Sheffield United
Following a health scare during their victory over Norwich City in the middle of the week, Dominic Iorfa will be eligible for Sheffield Wednesday’s Steel City rivalry against Sheffield United this weekend.
The thrashing the Owls took at home against Watford on Saturday was well and fully answered. They defeated an injured Norwich team with relative ease, winning 2-0, which gave them some momentum going into this weekend’s derby.
“Great reaction,” according to manager Danny Rohl, was the team’s response to their humiliating 6-2 loss in their last game. The victory over Norwich continued Wednesday’s lengthy winning streak, which goes back more than three years. They haven’t suffered a home loss in a midweek league match since April 2021, according to Sky Bet.
Wednesday is currently dealing with a number of injury issues. It was already anticipated that Olaf Kobacki, Michael Ihiekwe, Nathaniel Chalobah, and Akin Famewo would miss this weekend’s derby. Iorfa’s injury to his face just over ten minutes into the second half last night apparently made their fitness problems worse.
The 29-year-old’s health wasn’t really a cause for alarm, as it turned out.

It is anticipated that the centre-back will be ready this weekend. The player was initially worried that the injury would prevent him from playing in the derby when he was removed, but Wednesday’s medical team promptly reassured him that he would be fine to play on Saturday noon.
After the convincing midweek win, the defender told the media, through Joe Crann: “I asked the Doc and Antonio [Quintela, club physio], ‘Will this impact my chances for the weekend?'” They also made it apparent that it wouldn’t.
“This weekend’s game is obviously important. Everyone is anticipating it, and as a player, you want to participate in these games.
It’s a game that everyone looks forward to; it’s bragging rights. The game is excellent for the city. We all look forward to it, the players and the supporters.
“Everywhere you go, it’s there. ‘Ah, it’s the derby,’ I said to the coffee shop the other day. The derby game is on. People will always bring it up to you, so you can’t avoid it. As I mentioned, you get stopped in the street and everyone is talking about it, so even though you’re focused on the game today, it’s difficult to avoid thinking about it.

Dominic Iorfa being fit for Sheffield United game is great for all
There is seldom a more satisfying feeling than defeating your worst enemy; only receiving awards and promotions can come close. These games are highly anticipated because of the euphoria they evoke, which is just impossible to duplicate.
However, you don’t want your competitors to have an excuse if you are going to defeat them. You don’t want them to say, “We would have defeated you if we had all of our players.”
It’s difficult to have a totally fit team because injuries are inevitable in all sports, but it’s fantastic that Iorfa, a vital member of the Owls’ defence, will be available for this weekend’s match.
Although Blades fans would probably prefer the opposite outcome, his presence would make their victory even more sweet because it wouldn’t have been against a weak Wednesday squad.
