According to reports, following an outstanding start to his career in Glasgow, Premier League clubs have taken notice of Nicolas Kühn of Celtic. After a run of impressive performances in both domestic and European competitions, German writer Florian Plettenberg of Sky Sports Germany claims that a number of elite English clubs have already made enquiries about the 24-year-old winger.
After a difficult start the previous season, Kühn, who joined Celtic last season, has emerged as a vital member of the team under Brendan Rodgers, scoring seven goals and dishing out ten assists in all competitions thus far. As Celtic attempts to build on their domestic triumph and make their way through a difficult Champions League group—where they will next take on a crucial clash against RB Leipzig.
Plettenberg notes that interest is growing, but he also conjectures that the winger is worth more than €10 million, which some contend undervalues Kühn’s future and current worth to Celtic. Since Kühn’s contract at Parkhead is set to expire in 2029, Celtic will have the upper hand in any future negotiations. The team has little reason to let go of a player who is only starting to establish himself.
Given the date and the early stage of Kühn’s tenure at the club, Celtic supporters are likely to see these rumours as speculative at best. The winger appears intent on making his imprint in Glasgow, and with Champions League action on the horizon, he has many reasons to stay put for the time being, even though a move to the Premier League would attract some players.
Kühn’s continued development in the green and white will be eagerly anticipated by Rodgers and the Celtic board, who have demonstrated a dedication to keeping and nurturing talent. Although the Scottish champions are used to transfer rumours involving their best players, Kühn’s contract is set to expire close to the end of the decade, so a move away from Parkhead doesn’t seem likely.
