Celtic’s win over Aberdeen ended up being probably one of the easiest victories over the Pittodrie club in a long time.
The 6-0 victory was a surprise after Aberdeen drew at Celtic Park the previous month.
However, Jimmy Thelin left Hampden disappointed after Celtic delivered a severe lesson to Aberdeen as Brendan Rodgers’ men sailed into next month’s final.
Despite the relative ease with which Celtic won, Michael Stewart noticed Rodgers doing something on the touchline that he had never seen before.
Brendan Rodgers’ very animated’ During Celtic’s crushing victory over Aberdeen
Rodgers was furious with his Celtic players at 3-0 up, and Stewart stated it was unusual for the Northern Irishman, considering the Hoops’ dominance.
Stewart told Premier Sports, “You see, Brendan Rodgers is still quite animated down on the sidelines as you see Jimmy Thelin talking again.
“I don’t think I’ve ever seen Brendan Rodgers this animated. I mean a long time. I’ve never seen him like that before; he’s usually quite calm and cool.
“And of course, he celebrates when his team is scoring, but just simple calls in the game where decisions are made, he is very animated today.”
Why Brendan Rodgers was seeing things excellent for Celtic fans.
The Celtic manager is now the only one in Scotland with an unblemished domestic record this season, after the Hoops defeated Aberdeen at Hampden.
However, Rodgers explained his emotions at the moment, saying, “In honesty, I was seething because we had given the ball away and were a little late on it.
“It was an appropriate yellow card. It was just the game; I wanted us to play a little faster, even though we were up 3-0.
This ambition for excellence, even when Aberdeen had no chance of getting back into the game, exemplifies Rodgers’ determination to win at Celtic.
When Rodgers returned to the club two summers ago, he stated that he had something to prove to the Celtic fans.
The Hoops manager is in it for the long haul, and after seeing how he reacted to his players failing to meet his expectations in a game Celtic dominated, our opponents will have to be alert this season.
Brendan Rodgers, Celtic’s current manager, appears to be hungry for victory the second time around, which will alarm our opponents.
