“We have got a couple of injuries that will probably be missing for another three weeks” – Forest Green Rovers boss Steve Cotterill ahead of Stockport County FA Cup trip

Steve Cotterill, the manager of Forest Green Rovers, has hinted that the team might not have enough players before

Saturday’s FA Cup first-round trip to Stockport County.

owing to loan agreements and suspensions, Rovers will undoubtedly be without Jed Ward and Ryan Inniss this

weekend. However, Cotterill has revealed that a few more players may be sidelined owing to injuries.

“We will undoubtedly be a little short going into the game because we have a couple of injuries that will likely keep us

out for another three weeks,” Cotterill stated.

Teddy Jenks is still improving, though, as he rejoins the team after suffering an injury setback. “Teddy will probably

be in the squad at the weekend which is quite important because we have lost a couple of others for a number of

weeks,” Cotterill stated in reference to Jenks’ possible comeback.

Rovers will travel to Greater Manchester to meet Stockport County, a League One team. at the time of the draw.

“I think Stockport are well-managed, I think they are well-coached, and I think they have some really good players

there,” he remarked prior to the challenging test. Their hiring has been excellent, and they fall into the same category

as Wrexham in that they spend a lot of money but do it properly.

“I mention Stockport and Wrexham because I have seen them perform incredibly well over the past six or seven

months, but there are many teams that spend a lot of money and don’t spend it wisely. They both have good training

facilities, in my opinion. Kudos to their chairman, management, and coaching staff for that.

It’s been questioned whether Stockport has improved since Rovers’ League Two matchup with them five or six

months ago. “I believe the reason they are a better side is that they have a bigger squad and more numbers to choose

from,” Cotterill stated in response.

Since they have players for every position, there is no chance that we will be able to guess their squad. There may be

a combination of both teams if we put up one and another. Depending on availability, it may depend on who has

reservations or suspensions. Whoever they choose to play, they have a formidable XI.

Ryan Inniss will not play after receiving a red card for a challenge in the first half of last weekend’s trip to Woking.

Rovers filed an appeal against the referee’s ruling, but they were unsuccessful.

“We filed an appeal, but we were unsuccessful,” Cotterill stated. You will typically receive more games on top of it if it

is a frivolous appeal. I still don’t agree with the ruling; I believe both players gave it their best shot. Actually, their

guy was given a yellow card for the tackle on Charlie McCann three or four seconds prior to the event.
