Everton could be without six first team players for Southampton trip

Even though Everton has recovered from the illness and injury crises that plagued the season’s beginning, their team

still has problems. Dwight McNeil and Abdoulaye Doucoure had doubts about their fitness going into the last days of

this week.

McNeil might be able to make the journey to Southampton, where he scored his first goal for the Blues in a

meaningful match two years ago, according to Sean Dyche.

The 24-year-old missed Thursday’s training day at Goodison Park as he worked with the physiotherapist after

hobbling off during the waning moments of last weekend’s stalemate with Fulham.

Everton’s team continues to struggle despite their recovery from the illness and injury crises that dogged the start of

the season. As the week came to a close, Dwight McNeil and Abdoulaye Doucoure were unsure about their level of

fitness.

According to Sean Dyche, McNeil might be able to travel to Southampton, where he scored his first goal for the Blues

in a significant game two years ago.

The 24-year-old hobbled off during the final stages of last weekend’s draw with Fulham, missing Thursday’s training

day at Goodison Park while he worked with the physiotherapist.

However, the camp is dealing with a number of longer-term problems. Armando Broja is the one who is most likely

to make a comeback. Due to the achilles issue he brought with him, the striker, who joined on loan from Chelsea on

transfer deadline day, has not yet played a game for Everton. However, he might be able to reconnect with the sports

science team while he is still working with them.

Though it is thought to be unrelated to the stress fracture that kept him out for several months during his first season

at Everton, Dyche stated prior to the trip to Southampton that James Garner would be out for at least the next

month due to a back injury he sustained during the most recent international break.

Youssef Chermiti and Tim Iroegbunam will also be sidelined for a considerable amount of time; Chermiti needed

surgery for a foot ailment following a strong preseason debut, and Iroegbunam had a foot injury last month.
