Kieran McKenna is not happy with what's being suggested about Man City loanee Kalvin Phillips

Kalvin Phillips, a Manchester City midfielder, hopes to have a fruitful season on loan at Ipswich Town.

After moving from Leeds United to City for £45 million, the star has struggled in recent years.

Despite consistently impressing at Leeds, Phillips’ form did not cross over.

Phillips was not satisfied by Pep Guardiola and left the club to join West Ham United in the second part of the season.

Manchester City’s expectations of selling the player for a reasonable sum were dashed after a disastrous loan term.

He’s currently at Ipswich Town, and there was some unexpected conjecture regarding Phillips’ immediate future last week, which manager Kieran McKenna denied completely.

“There have been no talks like this, which is a tragedy. He had an excellent game today.”

He is in favour.McKenna commended Phillips at the beginning of October, stating he had settled in well and had already established himself as a ‘vital’ member for the side.

The East Anglian Times gave him a 6/10 rating for his performance against Brentford, citing sloppy play at times. He missed a critical tackle that led to the first goal and appeared to be a touch lanky running back, but he recovered effectively and put in a better effort than in previous weeks.”

Phillips has begun well on Portman Road. But City will be hoping he can pick up a few more gears between now and the conclusion of the season.
