Leicester City decision earns Southampton an apology after mistake admitted

Russell Martin, the manager of Southampton, has disclosed that the referees’ body has apologized to him for a judgment made during their loss to Leicester City last weekend.

Jordan Ayew’s goal in the 98th minute sealed the three points as City overcame a two-goal deficit to win on a thrilling afternoon at St. Mary’s.However, City may have been lucky not to give up a penalty, as the Saints now lead 2-1.

Mads Hermansen eventually punched clear after Ayew stopped Southampton attacker Paul Onuachu from getting a clean run at the ball from a corner by holding onto his shirt. It appears that PGMOL feels that not awarding a spot-kick was a mistake, even though nothing was offered at the time.

Martin discussed the apologies he received during the week after being given a yellow card for contesting a judgment during their 1-0 loss to Manchester City on Saturday. He was alluding to the Ayew incident, according to the Southampton Daily Echo.

Martin responded, “I don’t really speak out about that, but I’m going to miss next week’s game for throwing my arms up in the air at a bad decision,” when asked about his booking, which results in a touchline ban. Last week, we apologized for a decision that was made without consulting us. I didn’t speak to the media following the game, but I am now.

With just one point from nine games, Southampton is currently at the bottom of the table after Wolves rallied to draw with Brighton. The Saints are eight points behind City.
