Las Vegas Raiders owner provides frantic update on Maxx Crosby trade

The Las Vegas Raiders, who enter Week 8 of the NFL season in last place in the AFC West at 2-5, may continue to trade away players before the November 5 deadline. Davante Adams has already been traded to the New York Jets. Could a Maxx Crosby deal be in the works next?

On the one hand, it is not surprising to hear Maxx Crosby’s name mentioned in NFL trade rumours. He is one of the top players in the league. Furthermore, the Raiders are not going anywhere this season and still need to find their franchise quarterback.

Presumably, selling the All-Pro pass rusher would put them in a better position to find their next quarterback. On the other side, Crosby is unquestionably the Raiders’ top player. Crosby is the franchise’s face, and he doesn’t want to leave Las Vegas. If it were up to him, he’d be a Raider for life. Of course, this is the NFL, and without a no-trade provision, the decision is not his.

That doesn’t mean the Raiders are eager to move their franchise player, either. In fact, they aren’t even considering trade proposals for Crosby.

“We’re Not Trading Maxx Crosby,” Davis said in an email to ESPN. “Before Or After The Trade Deadline!!!”

Despite the fact that this is at least the second time we’ve learnt Crosby will be unavailable before the deadline, teams have continued to phone.

“I’m sitting here innocently and just doing what I do, and I feel like I got to like address it with my teammates. I’m like, ‘I’m not trying to leave.’ I don’t have 100 percent control and all that, but I want to be here. I want to be silver and black. I’ll say it loud and f—ing clear: I want to be a Raider. I’ve said that over and over and over again.”

Teams can try all they want, but it appears that Crosby will not be dealt anytime soon.
