Evangelos Marinakis ‘lucky not to get longer Nottingham Forest ban’

According to financial analyst Stefan Borson, who spoke exclusively to Football Insider, the Greek may have been banned for a lengthier period of time.

After Forest lost to Everton last season, the FA fined them £750,000 on October 11 for a “attack on the integrity of a match official on an unparalleled scale.”

In a recent development, Marinakis was given a five-game stadium ban for spitting on the ground while match officials passed by in the tunnel after the team’s 1-0 loss to Fulham on September 28.

Due to their responses following a red card during the 2-2 draw against Brighton on September 22, Nuno Espirito Santo and Morgan Gibbs-White have been banned.

Borson, however, disagrees with that conclusion since he thinks a long suspension is a suitable penalty for spitting.

It wasn’t a severe punishment, he told Football Insider.

“He was spitting at individuals.”

He offered some justifications, but they lack plausibility.

“I believe you should anticipate a lengthy suspension if you go about spitting at people.

“Perhaps five isn’t that many.

It’s all just too sentimental and based on bullshit.

“The Clattenburg press announcement and the material upon which they filed the complaint are both absurd.

“They have been punished for it and it will all move on, but it’s all emotional nonsense.

“I think they need to concentrate on the pitch.”
