Brighton vs Wolves: Star striker and defender both fit to start but ever-present teenager is a surprise absentee

Danny Welbeck, Brighton’s hottest striker, is playing against Wolves, just one week after being taken out on oxygen

due to a seemingly serious injury.

After Brighton manager Fabian Hurzeler said on Thursday, October 24, that his medical staff was “working all the

hours” to get the seasoned striker healthy in time to play Wolves, Albion is thrilled to hear this news.

Another significant plus is that Jan Paul van Hecke is ready to play after recovering from a groin ailment earlier than

expected.

.Jack Hinshelwood, 19, is a surprising absence from the team despite having started every Premier League game this

season.

After suffering an injury while playing for his country, Yankuba Minteh is still not healthy enough to be included in

the matchday squad. He was also absent from last weekend’s trip to his old club, Newcastle.

The Albion squad has undergone three changes: Igor, Hinshelwood, and Evan Ferguson have been replaced by Van

Hecke, Pervis Estupinan, and Kaoru Mitoma.

Simon Adingra has returned to the team following his recovery from an undisclosed minor injury.

Welbeck’s speedy recovery

Welbeck has been outstanding for Brighton so far this season, and last weekend’s victory over Newcastle was his fifth

Premier League goal in eight games.

However, after crashing into home defender Fabian Schar in the second half at Newcastle, the 33-year-old did suffer

a concerning back injury. Before being taken to the hospital, Welbeck got extensive on-field care and was given

oxygen while being carried off the field.

The damage was not as severe as initially thought.

“Danny got hit on the nerve and he did not feel the leg for a while and it was very painful,” Hurzeler told reporters.

“We still have to make a check today, even though it hurts. After a training session, he receives extensive treatment. To get him ready for the game, our physiotherapists and medical staff work with him every hour. We hope everything works out, but it will be difficult for us.
