After Birmingham City’s draw, Chris Davies expresses his thoughts on the “what a waste of money” slogan.

After Birmingham City departed the ground against Mansfield to a chorus of ‘what a waste of money’, Chris Davies
wants the team to take the taunts as inspiration.
With a strong performance at Field Mill, Mansfield became just the third team this season to defeat Blues in League One.
As they descended the tunnel at full time, the home crowd joyfully celebrated their victory and yelled at the Davies
players, “what a waste of money.”

“We can accept that they will be doing that,” Davies added. We’d rather be that squad than one that nobody cares
about. It is necessary for us to examine this game from our perspective. We defeated a team that has been playing
well and is right up there, but we were the superior team throughout the match.
Despite their tendency to start slowly this season, the Blues dominated the first half and scored a goal before ten minutes. Willumsson and Lyndon Dykes turned down excellent opportunities for
Davies wasn’t happy with his team’s lack of killer instinct – and he was disappointed with the way his wall split to

“I felt at halftime that we were very comfortable,” Davies continued. We had a strong first half and scored a goal. We
have a tendency to give up goals, and this time we scored early and stopped being as dangerous in our pursuit of the

We felt that the goal we gave up, in which the ball went through the wall, was a very bad one. We had a few
opportunities to win the game, but their tails were up and we didn’t have enough. We were unable to score the game-
ending second goal, which is crucial.
