40 Firefighters Tackle 17th-Floor Blaze in Birmingham High-Rise
BIRMINGHAM — A fire broke out last night in a high-rise apartment block in Birmingham, prompting a large-scale response from emergency services. A total of 40 firefighters were dispatched to the scene after a flat on the building’s 17th floor caught fire, sending thick smoke into the night sky and sparking concern among residents.
The blaze, which was reported just after 8:00 PM, quickly attracted the attention of emergency crews from across the city. Firefighters worked urgently to contain the flames and prevent them from spreading to adjacent units, which could have had severe implications for other residents in the building.
Evacuation procedures were swiftly enacted, with building security and emergency responders working together to clear the high-rise and ensure everyone’s safety.
