SAD NEWS: Brentford Under 21 demolish Ipswich Town Under-21s at Portman Road Stadium.

Brentford got off to a great start, earning a shot on goal within the first minute of play. Morgan gained control down

the right side, pushed his way into the box, and attempted a left-footed shot, but Henry Gray, the Ipswich

goalkeeper, stopped it.

Even though MacFarlane’s team had some early dominance, Ipswich found an early goal when Jesse Nwabueze fired

it home on five minutes.

After absorbing Brentford’s early attack, the young Tractor Boys experienced a period of momentum. When they

launched a counterattack ten minutes in, Ashley Boatswain received the ball on the edge of the box and fired at goal,

but his shot went over the bar, almost doubling their lead.

Still aiming for an opening goal, Brentford scored one on 14 minutes after Brierley’s wonderful cross. Behind

Ipswich’s defensive line, the midfielder’s ball found its way to Lisbie, who was able to head it in to tie the score.

The game was still fast-paced and entertaining, and Ipswich was eager to advance once more. On minute eighteen,

Nwabueze nearly scored, but Julian Eyestone blocked his effort.

After a fast-paced first half of the first forty-five minutes, the game slowed down in the last twenty minutes. After

several early opportunities, Morgan nearly scored his first goal on minute 34 when he won the ball back from an

Ipswich player, but Gray stopped his strike.

The young Bees continued to carry the momentum as half-time approached, two chances going begging inside the

final 10 minutes. Tony Yogane’s cross from the left side on 39 minutes hit Isaac Holland at the back post, however

his strike was sent out of play by Gray for a corner.

Vonnte Williams’ ensuing corner was perfectly placed for Benjamin Fredrick as he flew through the box, however his

header was left of the goal.

As they did in the first half, Brentford started the stronger of the two teams in the second 45 minutes. The young

Bees came inches from going ahead on 50 minutes, Lisbie’s header at the back post going across goal to Laidlaw who

wasn’t able to get clean contact on the ball, eventually cleared off the line by Ipswich.

Thomas Taylor went close to finding the hosts’ second goal two minutes later. He took possession outside the box

and fired immediately, but it was over the bar.

Brentford’s attacking end saw a hectic five minutes as they looked for a winner. Morgan’s header at goal was

deflected away by the Ipswich defenders after Lisbie forced his way into the right-hand side of the area.

Shortly after, the young Bees recovered the ball back from Gray, and Brierley nearly scored their second. Brierley

shot right away after the Ipswich keeper left his line, but it was cleared.

As the game entered its final ten minutes, Brentford was rewarded for their hard work, and Lisbie was once more

involved in the play. He broke down the right side, beating his man to the ball and crossing it into the box, finding

Morgan who hit the back of the net from close range.

Despite Ipswich’s best efforts to equalise late in the game, strong defending ensured Brentford secured all three

points away from home.
