Pep Guardiola singles out one Southampton ace who plays like a Manchester City player

Pep Guardiola sees shades of Manchester City in the way Russell Martin utilises one of the pillars of Southampton’s bold tactical set-up.

And it should come as no surprise that the former manager of Barcelona and Bayern Munich has a great deal of respect for a player whose status has been called into question after the team started the current Premier League season with just one point out of a possible 24. It would be an understatement to suggest that Southampton’s return to the top flight has been disappointing thus far.

But because of his opposite number’s unwavering commitment to staying true to those ephemeral principles, Pep Guardiola thinks that brighter times are on the horizon for Russell Martin and company.

Many of the ultra-purist ideas that have supported Guardiola’s incredible success in the dugout are also shared by the Saints manager.

For instance, Martin’s use of the goalkeeper as the first line of attack as well as the last line of defence is one Guardiola can appreciate. The Spaniard, after all, helped popularise the rise of the ball-playing glovesman, from Victor Valdes through

Pep Guardiola likes Aaron Ramsdale’s role at Southampton

Following the failure of a deal for Feyenoord goalkeeper Justin Bijlow in August, Southampton turned their attention to Aaron Ramsdale of Arsenal.

Ramsdale was selected because to his passing range, which is essential for a number one in a Russell Martin squad, in addition to his experience and temperament.

Guardiola declared at a press conference prior to Southampton’s difficult Saturday afternoon travel to the Etihad that “[Martin] will have success.” “You always succeed when [you] follow your ideals.

The players will realize you’re not a huge believer if you start to think otherwise. The results will eventually be in.

They have moments of joy and the bravery to play. I use Ramsdale, the keeper, the way Southampton does at the moment.

Guardiola notes that last season’s play-off champions have been unlucky on multiple occasions this season, even though Southampton will probably have lost eight of nine games when the final whistle blows at 5 p.m. on Saturday.

In the first half, Southampton outplayed Man United, who required a penalty kick from Andre Onana to tie the score. Sam Morsy defeated Ipswich Town with a deflected goal in the 98th minute.

Last time out, Southampton dominated Leicester City, leading 2-0, before faltering in the second half.

Russell Martin backed to turn around Southampton fortunes

“Teams always have bad results,” Guardiola remarked after Man City defeated Wolves in stoppage time on Sunday, requiring a contentious goal from John Stones. However, as you can see, we had a hard time winning [at Molineux].

For the opening half hour, Leicester played Brentford, Manchester United, and Leicester.

Although there are worries, TBR is aware that Southampton is not yet prepared to end Russell Martin’s term at St Mary’s. The board thinks there are enough good things to come out of Leicester’s setback.

Martin agrees.

In his own press release, he states, “I saw a ton of good stuff from them in the game.” We have never had an issue with [the players’] methods, I believe. I believe they had been extremely irritated.

“The level of competition [in training] has been very good this week
