Leeds United unfortunately found themselves battling with midfield problems lately thanks to injuries.

Daniel Farke first lost his captain Ethan Ampadu to injury and then midfield partner Ilia Gruev followed suit. Fortunately for Farke and the Leeds United faithful, Ao Tanaka and Joe Rothwell have both stepped up brilliantly to fill the holes.

Leeds United also turned to the free agent market and yesterday announced the signing of Josuha Guilavogui. The French midfielder started his career at Saint-Etienne in France before joining Spanish giants and eventual Champions League finalists Atletico Madrid. Around this time, he made seven appearances for France.

He went on to play for VfL Wolfsburg where he made over 250 appearances and becoming their club captain. He spent last year at Mainz and upon the expiry of his deal, he was a free agent allowing Leeds to secure his signing immediately in a boost for Farke’s midfield but he may not be done with the midfield recruits just yet.

Earlier this week, it was reported that Leeds United could be interested in a move for Liverpool midfielder Tyler Morton. Now, those links have resurfaced, with fresh reports linking Morton with a loan move to Elland Road in January to had further depth to Leeds United’s depleted midfield ranks.

Morton already has championship experience making 79 appearances for Blackburn Rovers and Hull City over the last two seasons. This year, Morton has been called upon by Arne Slot to make a cameo for Liverpool in their League Cup win over West Ham United. Unfortunately for Morton, these cup games appear to be his only way into the side, so a loan move could benefit him once again and Leeds appear to be likely suitors.

This comes as Leeds United have been handed a significant boost in the race to sign another of Klopp’s kids, that being former Liverpool and Rangers forward Ryan Kent with another of the clubs interested in him falling away opening the door for Leeds should they want to bring him in.
