Brendan Rodgers ‘absolutely satisfied’ with Celtic draw – Reveals wanting Ballon d’Or nominee

Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers is pleased to have earned a point against Atalanta on Wednesday.

The Champions League match at the Gewiss Stadium finished in a scoreless draw. The Serie A team dominated possession and attempted more shots on goal. They were unable to get past Celtic custodian Kasper Schmeichel.

Following the match, Brendan Rodgers spoke with Sky Italia, and TuttoMercatoWeb repeated his views. The Celtic manager was asked if he was satisfied with the outcome.

“Yes, absolutely. We played against an amazing team, one of the best in the Italian championship, with a powerful assault. We kept a clean sheet, which demonstrates my team’s daring and audacity. “We are satisfied at this point,” he stated.

The manager returned to Celtic Park in 2023 after three years with Leicester City. During his stint with the Foxes, he handled Ademola Lookman of Atalanta. Brendan Rodgers hugged his former player during yesterday’s European game.

Lookman’s hat-trick against Bayer Leverkusen in the Europa League final helped La Dea win the competition last season. He has since been nominated for this year’s Men’s Ballon d’Or award.

When asked what he talked about with Lookman, Rodgers replied: “I joked with him, saying, ‘I know you’re nominated for the Ballon d’Or, but forget the Ballon d’Or tonight!'”

“Lookman is a fantastic kid; I had the pleasure of teaching him at Leicester. He was an excellent player for me, and he scored key goals. I would have preferred to have him return to my team, but he eventually moved to Atalanta, where he became an icon. It’s great to see him perform at this level.”

“He’s a fantastic guy, very professional, and an excellent athlete. “And I’m glad he didn’t score tonight!”

Gian Piero Gasperini, Atalanta’s manager, believes Celtic had a point to prove against his club after losing 7-1 to Borussia Dortmund in the Champions League earlier this month.

“They were coming off a tough defeat, so they defended themselves vigorously. TuttoMercatoWeb cited Gasperini as adding, “We did everything we needed to do; we can’t blame ourselves too much; we did well.”

“There were multiple scoring opportunities, but we had to accept the draw; we tried till the finish. We tried; their custodian was likewise good. “We were also unlucky in some situations.”

“It’s not easy to play every three days, but with this consistency, the bench has proven decisive in previous years. We have very nothing to blame ourselves for.
