BBC NEWS: “A massive move” – Pundit reacts as Norwich City secure Arsenal agreement.

Carlton Palmer believes Jack Wilshere’s signing at Norwich City is a significant development for the club. The Canaries announced earlier this week that the former midfielder has joined Johannes Hoff Thorup’s coaching team. The 32-year-old replaces Narcís Pelach, who left in September to become manager of Stoke City. Wilshere previously managed Arsenal’s under-18 team and has established himself as a potential young coach.

He has played an important role in nurturing promising young talent at the London club, and several of those players are currently on the margins of Mikel Arteta’s first team squad.

Palmer is thrilled with the idea of Wilshere joining Norwich, and sees it as another example of the club’s astute recruitment. He has also said that this might give the Norfolk club an advantage in the transfer market, since Wilshere could enable loan deals for some of Arsenal’s most promising young players from their academy. “After 11 games, Norwich City are in seventh place with 17 points, only two points away from a play-off spot,” Palmer told Football League World. “They’ve now hired Jack Wilshere, a highly regarded Arsenal coach.

“He’s extremely young, Jack; he finished playing through injury, went on to get his coaching badges, wanted to continue engaged in football, was a fantastic player, and who knows what he would’ve accomplished if he hadn’t had those persistent injury problems. “But we’ll have to wait and see; he’s very highly regarded, and this is an excellent opportunity to travel to Norwich.
