“Will be an England player” – Exciting prediction made over Sheffield United talent

This post is part of Football League World’s ‘Terrace Talk’ series, which features personal comments from FLW Fan Pundits on breaking news, teams, players, managers, potential signings, and more.

Sheffield United has had a strong start to life in the Championship, picking up more points than any other team in the second tier through the first nine games of the season.

If not for a two-point deduction before the season began, United would be sitting comfortably at the top of the EFL, rather than alongside Sunderland after nine games.

While the Steel City outfit has had several exceptional performers, one in particular has received praise for his performances in the middle of the park for the team he loves.

Ollie Arblaster is living every Blades fan’s dream, and we chatted with Football League World’s Sheffield United fan pundit Jimmy from Blades Ramble about the star who appears bound for greatness.

Ollie Arblaster catches the eye in early Sheffield United performances

Arblaster began the season on loan at Port Vale in League One, returning to Bramall Lane in January before playing for United in the second half of the Premier League season.

He was still a teenager at the time, but the young star seemed well at home in the Premier League, with his confidence in and out of possession suggesting he was destined for greatness.
That reputation has only grown since the start of the current season, when he scored his team’s first goal in a 2-0 victory over Preston North End, followed by another in a 1-1 draw with Norwich City.

While his ability to hit the mark from long range is undeniable, it is the England youth international’s all-around game that convinces Jimmy that Arblaster will be in complete control of his own destiny as his football career progresses.

When asked which player should be playing at a higher level, the United fan replied, “Ollie Arblaster will undoubtedly become a Premier League staple.”

“This kid has it all; at 20 years old, he is captain of the club and has earned every bit of it; he embodies everything we want for in a Sheffield United player.

“He is rough, tough, carries the ball well, takes it on the half-turn, has an eye for a pass, can score a few goals, and is a tough tackler.”

“He leads by example on the pitch, and Ollie Arblaster will be an England player in the future, there is no doubt in my mind.”

Premier League interest underlines Ollie Arblaster potential

After instantly demonstrating his abilities when airlifted into the Premier League the previous season, it was no surprise that top division clubs expressed an interest in the midfielder’s services this summer.

As the Blades prepared to return to the second division, a number of teams were thought to be keeping an eye on the 20-year-old’s progress, with Thomas Frank’s Brentford among those intrigued.

Arblaster signed a new contract with the club earlier this year, and his current contract at Bramall Lane runs until the summer of 2028, giving United complete control on their superstar’s destiny in the coming years.

If things continue as they are, the teenage star will be back in the Premier League soon, with Chris Wilder’s side already proving to be strong promotion prospects based on their early performances.

Arblaster has been crucial to the Blades’ early performances when fit and available, and whether they can withstand attention from teams in the coming months remains to be seen, given the generational brilliance that is currently shining in the Steel City.
