Former Norwich City player faces four years in prison for filming sexual encounters.

After confessing to secretly filming sex acts with two women, a former Norwich City footballer faces four years in prison.

Hwang Ui-jo, 31, who scored three goals in 17 games while on loan with the Canaries, appeared in court this week in Seoul on charges that he recorded the victims four times in 2022 without their permission.

The South Korean international entered a guilty plea to each and every accusation. He currently plays for the Turkish team Alanyaspor.

Hwang was last season’s Norwich City loanee from Nottingham Forest when the case against him first surfaced.

According to the BBC, the videos came to light after Hwang’s sister-in-law shared them on social media, in an attempt to blackmail him.

She was sentenced to three years in prison in September for the blackmail after Hwang sued her.

Prosecutors are now demanding a four-year prison term for the striker.

In court, he issued an apology to his victims, saying: “I will not do anything wrong in the future and will do my best as a footballer.

“I truly apologise to the victims who have suffered as a result of my activities; I am especially sorry for the disappointment I have caused to all those who have loved and helped me.”

He is due to be sentenced in December

Hwang joined Norwich on, but the prosecution continued to prosecute him with illegally filming the footage.

September 2023 will see the loan.

After experiencing setbacks with his injuries, he was forced to return to Nottingham when his contract with the club was terminated early in January.
