3 out-of-contract players Norwich City look unlikely to keep beyond 2025

Norwich City appear to have found their stride under Johannes Hoff Thorup, thrashing Hull City 4-0 at home in their final game before the international break.

Norwich City made the play-offs last season under former manager David Wagner, but were knocked out in the semi-finals by Leeds United after two legs.

The Canaries are now seventh in the Championship standings, one point behind the top six teams.

They return to action this weekend, traveling to the Bet365 Stadium to face Stoke City. In the meanwhile, here are three players who are out of contract in 2025 and are unlikely to return.

Ashley Barnes

When Norwich City signed him when his contract with Burnley expired, they offered him a two-year agreement. He made 41 appearances in all competitions last season, scoring seven goals.

However, he has been out injured recently and has not appeared in any games this season. He will be eager to return and demonstrate why he should be granted an extension.

Jonathan Tomkinson

At the age of 22, he could benefit from playing more regular football away from Carrow Road. The center-back, a former USA youth international, joined his current club in 2019 after previously playing for FC Dallas.

Tomkinson has been unable to break into the Canaries’ first squad, and his long-term future is uncertain. He has been loaned to Stevenage and Bradford City to gain experience.

Tony Springett

Norwich City must make a huge decision about what to do with the Irishman next year. He isn’t assured regular football, and he has to play every week at this point in his career.

Springett advanced through their academy ranks and was a regular at several young levels. The winger has played 17 professional appearances and has spent time away from East Anglia at Derby County and Northampton Town to further his development.
