Reading FC memorable Charlie Adam moments after FA Cup draw

Charlie Adam, a midfielder for Liverpool and Blackpool who played his whole EFL career with Reading, will be making his first trip back to Berkshire after his Fleetwood Town team was drawn against the Royals in the FA Cup. Adam concluded his career with Reading.

The 38-year-old, a Scotland international who played a long career in the Premier League, finished his career with boyhood club Dundee after scoring twice in 27 games for the Royals.

Adam, who took his managerial debut with Fleetwood the previous season, failed to maintain the Cod Army in the third division but managed to salvage a dramatic point in a 1-1 draw with Reading at Highbury Stadium in February.

First goal

Seeing in the New Year with a bang

On New Year’s Day, reading supporters made the short drive to Fulham, a Cottagers team headed for promotion, despite carrying a hangover from the previous evening.

Nevertheless, goals from Adam and John Swift either side of halftime gave the Royals their fourth straight victory at Craven Cottage.

After an hour, Ivan Cavaleiro got one back for Scott Parker’s team, but they were unable to overcome Rafael Cabral once more, and Reading held on for a thrilling triumph led by Adam in midfield.

Fleetwood fixture

On Valentine’s Night of the previous season, hundreds of Royals travelled to Fleetwood for the first time and came close to returning victorious, as a questionable stoppage-time equaliser that seemed offside on second viewing denied them a 1-0 victory.
