Premier League make decision on Craig Pawson after Everton controversy vs Newcastle

Everton were the subject of a controversial decision in their last Premier League outing against Newcastle, and a decision has since been made on referee Craig Pawson.

Sean Dyche will be disappointed with Craig Pawson’s decision last time out against Newcastle, as the giving of what Everton felt should have been a penalty may have helped them win all three points.
VAR released the recording, and you could hear why they didn’t give Dominic Calvert-Lewin a penalty, but Everton fans’ sentiments remained unchanged.

However, VAR omitted to highlight that Dan Burn did not touch the ball during the incident, which caused some questions on social media.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin came out after the game and couldn’t believe it wasn’t a penalty.

Interestingly, it appears that the Premier League has factored the controversy into their decision on Craig Pawson for Matchday 8.

Craig Pawson is a well-known referee, but his relationship with Everton hasn’t always been positive.

Interestingly, Neil Warnock famously claimed that Pawson had an agenda against Everton, and fans are beginning to believe him.
He also missed Ibrahima Konate’s blatant second yellow card in the Merseyside derby last season.

The Premier League has made their announcements for matchday eight, and there is one missing.

Craig Pawson has not been appointed to referee any of the games, but he is the fourth official for Chelsea versus Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur against West Ham.

Craig Pawson’s record with Everton

As previously stated, Craig Pawson has a long history with Everton.

The Toffees had a poor record under Pawson. They’ve won only five of his 27 matches, drawing seven and losing 15.

Of course, you’d hope that a referee never has an agenda against a certain club, and we don’t believe there is, but some of the decisions against Everton have been questionable.

Let’s just hope that the three points Everton could have gained if they had taken the penalty don’t come back to haunt them if they are fighting for relegation at the conclusion of the season.
