Ipswich Town: Dara O’Shea compares Kieran McKenna and Vincent Kompany

Dara O’Shea, an Ipswich Town defender, has examined the parallels and divergences between Vincent Kompany and Kieran McKenna.

O’Shea was signed by Kompany at Burnley after he led the team to the Premier League during his first season in charge. Kompany is currently manager of Bundesliga powerhouse Bayern Munich. The Belgian won multiple trophies as Manchester City’s captain and was a former centre-back.

He and McKenna are frequently compared to each other. They are both 38 years old, have been apart for just more than a month, and prefer to play offensive football whenever they can.

So far in his career, O’Shea has loved playing under both managers, but he has observed certain variations in “how they control the players.”

“They’re both great coaches,” he explained, “Tactically, they’re amazing and some of the best I’ve worked with.

“They handle and control the players differently from one another.

Since I first came in, the manager here has treated me like a true star. He’s really made it easy for me to feel at ease in the group, on my own, and in social situations. It has really benefited me.

“They’re both young managers with plenty of work ahead of them in their professions. It’s incredible that they have both managed at the highest level.

“Obviously, I’m still getting to know this place, but I’m having a great time working with the manager here. I am eager to continue.
