DeMarcus Cousins rips Lakers selection of Bronny James

Four-time NBA All-Star DeMarcus Cousins was not shy about criticising the Los Angeles Lakers’ selection of Bronny James Cousins stated, “I don’t think the Lakers are serious anymore.” “I adore all it represents. I find what Bron [LeBron] is

doing with his legacy, his business acumen, and everything that goes along with it to be extremely amazing. I

interpret that as an indication that the Lakers aren’t taking their competitiveness seriously. Given how their season concluded the previous year… In terms of taking action, I had higher expectations of them.

Concern with the Lakers’ existing roster and offseason choices is evident in Cousins’ remarks. Even though Bronny James is a highly regarded prospect, Cousins hinted that the Lakers might not be placing as much emphasis on

winning as they formerly did. The Lakers’ 2023–24 season ended with a loss to the Denver Nuggets in the first round of the playoffs, which Cousins said was an indication the team needed to make more significant adjustments.

Cousins did, however, voice excitement for Dalton Knecht, the Lakers’ first-round selection. “I do like the Tennessee youngster they selected. According to Cousins, “I believe he could be an immediate impact player for them.” “But I

didn’t really see those moves being made in the offseason, and they had a lot of concerns last year that I don’t think were really addressed.”

The absence of a trustworthy big man to play with Anthony Davis is one of the main issues Cousins could have brought up. The Lakers haven’t done anything substantial to increase the depth of their frontcourt, which was a

problem the season before. Although no agreement has been reached, a report on Monday indicated that the Lakers were trying to sign centre Nick Richards of the Charlotte Hornets.

Furthermore, Cousins’ comments contribute to the continuing discussions about the Lakers’ offseason strategy and if the squad is ready to compete for a title next season.
