Chris Sutton eviscerates Ange at Celtic myth that ‘misses the point’ as Souness edits scorching Postecoglou rant

Robbie Savage and Sutton argued about Postecoglou’s trophy record.

After his radio friend Robbie Savage’missed the point’ about his trophy record, Chris Sutton stepped up to defend Ange Postecoglou.

After a 3-2 loss at Brighton, despite leading 2-0 at halftime, the former Celtic manager is out of commission at Tottenham, adding to their dismal start to the season. He stated that he always wins in his second season, but unless things significantly improve after the international break, it appears he may find it difficult to fulfil that promise.

He has made a lot of money as a manager, and that was the main topic of conversation on BBC Radio 5 Live.Savage concurred with Sutton live on air when Graeme Souness called him “naive and lucky” instead of bold. “It’s all about results, Chris,” he replied, adding that it doesn’t matter how you win. Football matches can be won in a variety of ways, and the most crucial factor is how you win. It’s all about the outcomes. Therefore, Ange Postecoglou will be evaluated based on his ability to win football games rather than his entertainment value when discussing Spurs.

Sutton responded to that by citing his trophy record, which includes victories with Scotland, Japan, and Australia over his 25 years in management. “He has over 25 years of management experience,” he retorted. Hold for a second. I don’t see why you’re bringing him up since he has won stuff. His coaching and managerial career has been extremely successful, and he consistently wins. Why do you mention his name?

Then Savage said, “But at Celtic, they should win,” to which an irritated Sutton replied, “We’re talking about 25 years in management, not just at Celtic.” That’s what some clubs’ fan bases want, so you’re missing the point.

After criticising Postecoglou on William Hill’s Three Up Front podcast, Souness explained in a Daily Mail article that he did not hold the manager responsible for Brighton’s downfall. “The only dressing-room conversation when you’re ahead 2-0 at halftime, like Tottenham was at Brighton last weekend, is ‘More of the same,'” he stated. Let’s say it is 0-0. They must be prevented from scoring the first goal. We scored once more to put an end to this. Bog-standard manager jargon. However, in the second half, the Tottenham players came out and appeared to be a different team.

Ange Postecoglou is now unsure about some of those guys, which is unsettling. How could the people he believed to be somewhat close to him waste a 2-0 lead like that? Even the top football teams, in my opinion, should modify their strategy when it isn’t working. You must be able to alter your style of play. It’s a little foolish of Tottenham to believe that they can outscore and outfootball everyone when they lack the greatest players.

“I’m not holding the manager accountable for Tottenham’s performance. The men that were on the pitch were solely responsible for the 3-2 loss. Spurs, however, need to think things through.
