3 out-of-contract players Coventry City look unlikely to keep beyond 2025
Over the last few seasons, Coventry City has undergone a great deal of change, and this trend is probably going to continue in the upcoming campaigns.
Over the last two years or so, Coventry City has been able to spend significant sums of money to bolster their team, which has raised expectations at the CBS Arena.
Following their disappointing performance in the 2023 play-off final and their expensive sales of players such as Viktor Gyokeres and Gustavo Hamer, Mark Robins has made a major investment in their playing roster.
Such a shift is probably going to continue, and it tends to knock some individuals down the ladder; some of these players might be close to finishing their careers with the Sky Blues because their contracts expire next summer.
Having said that, the following three Coventry City players may be let go in 2025 when their contracts expire.
Ben Wilson
Jack Burroughs
Burroughs is now out on loan from Coventry City once more, so it wouldn’t be shocking if he didn’t play for Sky Blue once more. Following his spell with Lincoln City in the previous season, he joined Kilmarnock.
Instead of switching between loan teams, the 23-year-old will gain from being able to commit to one club long-term, which may help him truly settle in and get going.
It wouldn’t be shocking if Burroughs left after his contract expired at the conclusion of the season if a deal wasn’t approved before next summer.
Fabio Tavares
Finally, but just as importantly, it’s time to move on from Fabio Tavares.
Though he turns 24 in January, he has always been seen as a Coventry City development player. To maximise his potential, he can transfer to another EFL team and get regular game time; with his restricted championship chances, that could be a good thing.
Tavares has only made one appearance in all competitions and has not participated in any league play this season.
