West Brom back in to sign “outstanding” 21 y/o ace for Corberan in January

Reliable writer Alan Nixon claims that West Brom is still interested in finalizing the purchase of a prolific offensive player who is having a strong start to the Championship season.

After a strong start, West Brom is now on the decline.

This season, the Baggies jumped out of the starting blocks, dominating the Championship table and seemed to be the team to beat. Under Carlos Corberan, everything seemed to be moving smoothly, and it’s possible that he was never more in charge at the Hawthorns.

In addition to being a shocking outcome, West Brom’s campaign has taken a serious knock since their 3-2 loss to Sheffield Wednesday on the road last month.

Following that Hillsborough setback, Millwall suffered another unexpected loss, this time at home against Middlesbrough, before traveling to the Hawthorns and returning with a 0-0 draw.

Few anticipated this decline in performance, and it might be argued that the current international break has coincided well with Corberan’s ability to recover and, ideally, get back on track when domestic play resumes, beginning this Saturday’s trip to Oxford United.

West Brom remains interested in the “outstanding” ace.

Nixon stated on Patreon that West Brom is eager to get Tom Cannon in January. The forward is presently on loan at Stoke City from Leicester City, so it appears that one intriguing player is still being watched in the transfer news.

If the Foxes want to add the 21-year-old to their team or want to sell him permanently, they can recall him during the January transfer window. This means the Baggies might make a surprise move halfway through the season. However, he is currently anticipated to remain at Stoke for the duration of the 2024–2025 season.

Cannon has been seen as a West Brom transfer target in the past, so the fact that they are once again back in for him suggests they rate him highly as a young footballer with a bright future in the game.

The English attacker has already scored four goals in five Championship appearances for Stoke this season, averaging two shots per game, while former Hull City manager Liam Rosenior heaped praise on him last year, saying: “I thought Tom Cannon was outstanding, one of the best we’ve played against by far.”

It doesn’t look as though Cannon necessarily has a long-term future at Leicester, given their willingness to loan him out – he has also enjoyed a temporary stint at Preston North End in the past – and West Brom could be the perfect place for him to earn more regular playing time and settle down in his career.

The West Brom star Corberan believes will be classy may potentially depart in January.

Young Harry Whitwell has greatly pleased Carlos Corberan.

Given that the Baggies are now in 17th place in the table and Corberan’s team is in fourth, they have a better possibility of providing the young player with a path into the Premier League from a Championship club. For this reason, a January transfer to The Hawthorns might be appealing to him.
